Decades after his disappearance, William Earl Moldt’s skeletal remains were found thanks to a Google Earth user’s keen observation. Moldt, who went missing at 40 in 1997, was located in a Florida lake through satellite images. The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office revealed that a former resident noticed a submerged car while exploring the Grand Isles neighborhood on Google Earth. The resident used a drone to confirm the sighting and informed the current homeowner. Subsequently, authorities retrieved a heavily calcified white sedan from the lake’s 3700 block, containing Moldt’s skeletal remains.
Moldt’s last known whereabouts were traced back to a November 1997 nightclub visit. According to NamUs, he left the bar sober, called his girlfriend, and vanished. Despite the pond’s presence during Moldt’s disappearance, neighbors remained unaware until the recent discovery.
