LaPenna revealed that Lazar had been battling epilepsy, restricting him from most sports except baseball. The night before the incident, the family celebrated his birthday. LaPenna tearfully shared, “It’s just so sad.”

Lazar, a Mets enthusiast, was playing at Point Lookout Park when the game took a tragic turn. LaPenna recounted the moment, stating, “The last moment I saw was him standing on first, and he turned to me with a smile.” Despite CPR efforts, Lazar couldn’t be revived.
