While on the Beach with My Husband, a Woman Ran Up, Knelt, and Said His Name

Just as John and I celebrated our anniversary on the beach, a woman in a swimsuit ran up, knelt before him, and uttered his name. My heart stopped. Who was she?

“John… No, please don’t leave me… John!” I shrieked, jolting awake in an empty bed. Realizing it was just a nightmare, I sighed with relief when I heard John’s voice. “Rosa? You okay?” he asked, concerned. “Yeah, just a bad dream,” I replied.

John surprised me with plane tickets to the Dominican Republic for our 10th anniversary. “Pack your bags, babe. We leave in three hours,” he grinned. The flight was filled with excitement, and the tropical air welcomed us warmly. Our beachfront resort was stunning, and our room had a private balcony overlooking the ocean.

The next few days were pure bliss, filled with sun, sand, and dancing under the stars. On our third evening, as we watched the sunset, I thought about the little surprise I had for John. My hand drifted to my stomach, where our secret was growing.

“John, there’s something I want to tell you—” I began, but a woman suddenly appeared, dropping to her knees in front of John. “John! You’re the love of my life. Will you marry me?” she cried.

John quickly explained it was a prank by Julia, a college friend, who had promised to get her revenge. As relief washed over me, I remembered my own surprise.

“We’re going to have a baby,” I whispered, handing John a small box with a tiny locket shaped like a baby shoe. Tears filled his eyes as he hugged me tightly. “I love you so much, Rosa. You’ve just made me the happiest man on Earth.”

Julia clapped her hands in delight. “Now that’s a plot twist I didn’t see coming! Congratulations, you two.”

As we stood on the beach, the sun dipping below the horizon, I realized that this emotional rollercoaster had brought us even closer together, and I couldn’t wait to see what the future held for our little family.
