Hundreds of animals are receiving care from humane organizations in Southern California as wildfires force evacuations. Pasadena Humane has taken in “over 400 animals, including a pony,” while the Los Angeles Equestrian Center shelters “200–300 horses and even a 200-pound pig.” Rescue groups care for pets suffering from “burns, dehydration, and smoke inhalation.” Many animals are temporarily boarded while owners stay in evacuation centers. Donations have poured in, but shelters now request monetary support due to space limitations.
