At least 37 people died and 39 were injured in a bus crash between Uyuni and Colchani, Bolivia, on Saturday morning. One bus “swerved into the oncoming lane,” colliding with another bus.
The crash caused severe damage, with one bus rolling over. Emergency crews used a crane to “flip the bus and recover bodies,” which were carried away in blankets.
The injured were taken to hospitals in Uyuni.
Preliminary investigations suggest “speeding as a possible cause” of the crash.
Police are working to identify the victims, highlighting the dangers of road travel in the region.
