Inside the tough and challenging life of Pattie Mallette

Businessman Carl Dean, husband of Dolly Parton, has died at 82 in Nashville after nearly 60 years of marriage.

Parton expressed her grief: “Words can’t do justice to the love we shared for over 60 years. Thank you for your prayers and sympathy.” The family requested privacy.

Dean ran a road-paving business and supported Parton’s career while avoiding the spotlight. They renewed their vows in 2016 to celebrate their lasting love.

Parton once said, “He’s quiet and I’m loud… we have a lot of fun,” highlighting how their differences strengthened their bond.

Dean will be laid to rest in a private ceremony. He is survived by his siblings, Sandra and Donnie.
