Couple expects identical twins — freeze when the doctor says “I’m sorry”

“Double the Emotion: A Journey with Twins Diagnosed with Down’s Syndrome”

Expecting twins is an exciting but daunting time, as Matt and Jodi Parry discovered when they learned they were having twin girls alongside their son. The excitement turned to fear when the doctor diagnosed Abigail and Isobel with Down’s syndrome. The doctor described it as “a lifetime punishment.” Uncertain of their girls’ future, the Parrys received little guidance.

Undeterred, they sought information and gave their daughters the love and support they needed. Five years later, Abigail and Isobel have defied expectations. Jodi says, “We wouldn’t change them for the world.”

Every individual, syndrome or not, deserves a chance in life. Abigail and Isobel are living proof. People with Down’s syndrome deserve equal opportunities and freedoms, and it’s time they stopped feeling invisible due to their diagnosis
