A carjacking incident in Baltimore County took a tragic turn when a police car fatally struck 20-year-old Dion Lamar Taylor, who was fleeing with two others. Taylor’s mother, Teisha Cook, described her frantic search for her son, not realizing he was under the police car. She emphasized that her son was not a criminal, asserting, “My son was a homebody.” The carjacking occurred on Merle Drive in Woodlawn, leading to a police chase that ended at Northern Parkway and Highgate Drive. Police recovered a thrown handgun.
The suspects abandoned the car, and one Baltimore County police cruiser hit it, striking Taylor as he turned onto Highgate Drive. While authorities claimed there was no evidence of intentional harm, the investigation continues. Sixteen-year-old Taron Kelly was arrested and charged in connection with the incident, held without bond, while a third suspect remains at large. Baltimore City police are investigating, and the involved officer is on routine administrative leave.
