Becoming a mother is life-changing, whether it happens early or late. Maria Carmen del Bousada, from Spain, believed “everyone should be able to choose when they want to start a family.”
In 2006, at 66, she became the world’s oldest mother after selling her house for IVF. She admitted, “Maybe things shouldn’t have been done this way, but it was the only way.”
Her family was shocked, calling her “selfish.” Six months after giving birth to twins, she was diagnosed with cancer.
Maria passed in 2009, and her family cared for her sons. “God should have given her more time.”
