Vegan Sues Family Next Door For BBQing Meat, Neighbors Plan ‘Community’ Gathering In Response

Girrawheen resident Cilla Carden made headlines by taking her neighbors to court, demanding they cease barbecues, smoking, and playing ball in their backyard. Complaining about the meat smell, she stated, “All I can smell is fish. I can’t enjoy my backyard.”

In her distress, Carden expressed, “It’s been devastating, turmoil, unrest, I haven’t been able to sleep.” One neighbor showed efforts to resolve the issue by halting basketball and removing the barbecue. Despite this, Carden pursued legal action, claiming the disturbances were deliberate.

Her case reached the Supreme Court and State Administrative Tribunal, both dismissing her claims. Despite the setback, Carden remains determined, vowing to continue the fight in court. The neighbor conflict over backyard activities is a reminder of the challenges in balancing personal preferences and communal living.
