Gun manufacturer Smith & Wesson has completed its relocation from Massachusetts to Tennessee, marking a significant shift after 170 years in the former state. President and CEO Mark Smith expressed the difficulty of the decision, stating, “This has been an extremely difficult and emotional decision for us.” The move, prompted by proposed anti-gun legislation in Massachusetts, includes a $125 million investment and the creation of 750 jobs.

Smith outlined the legislative threats, asserting that proposed laws could hinder the production of commonly used firearms, constituting over 60% of the company’s revenue. He deemed these measures an infringement on Americans’ constitutional rights, emphasizing the potential impact on law-abiding citizens.

Contrasting with Massachusetts, Tennessee warmly welcomed Smith & Wesson. Senator Marsha Blackburn affirmed the state’s commitment to the Second Amendment at the grand opening. The NRA also praised the move, highlighting the company’s perseverance and dedication to preserving America’s gun industry and Second Amendment rights.
