Nobody sang, “God Bless America” better than Kate Smith

In a patriotic spectacle on ‘The Dean Martin Show,’ Dean Martin and Kate Smith, joined by Barbara Eden, Mickey Rooney, and Norm Crosby, delivered a medley of American classics. Dressed in red, white, and blue, the singers and dancers created a vibrant display.

Dean and Kate commenced with ‘Yankee Doodle Dandy’ and ‘My Old Kentucky Home,’ followed by a spirited rendition of ‘You’re a Grand Old Flag,’ filling the stage with performers. Dean, quoting President Roosevelt, honored Kate Smith as she began ‘God Bless America.’

Known as ‘The Songbird of the South,’ Kate delivered an epic rendition of the Irving Berlin classic, accompanied by a soaring orchestra. The stirring salute, a hallmark of ‘The Dean Martin Show,’ featured legendary stars and closed with Dean’s hit, ‘Everybody Loves Somebody.’ This iconic collaboration encapsulated the show’s decade-long celebration of patriotism, leaving the audience deeply moved and proud to be American.
