These things show up in my toilet after it rains. Any idea what they are?

After the storm, the toilet appeared like something from a nightmare. Brown, wriggling shapes floated in the bowl, moving just enough to make everything feel surreal. Panic set in instantly, thoughts racing to parasites, sewer creatures, or some other dangerous entity rising through the pipes.

However, a closer inspection revealed a different reality. The strange creatures weren’t worms or parasites—they were tadpoles, the early stage in a frog’s life cycle. The heavy rain had likely created the perfect conditions for frogs to find their way indoors through open windows, vents, or drains, where they laid their eggs in the standing water.

What initially felt horrifying slowly transformed into a realization of an accidental, tiny ecosystem forming inside. Once the situation was understood, the fear turned into a sense of responsibility. The tadpoles were carefully removed from the toilet and released into a nearby pond, where they could thrive and continue their natural development.

To prevent a repeat of the strange incident, simple precautions like keeping drains covered and sealing bathroom openings during heavy rains can help avoid this type of surprise.

In the end, what had seemed unsettling at first was nothing more than nature finding its way into an unexpected place, reminding us that sometimes the wild world can intersect with our own in surprising ways.
