Mom of rare twins with Down syndrome show just how beautiful and precious they are to shut down critics

Despite a 72% increase in twin pregnancies from 1980 to 2018, they remain uncommon, occurring in about 33 out of 1,000 births. Identical twins, even rarer, constitute only three to four births per 1,000.

Unexpected Joy Amidst Unusual Odds: Savannah Combs, 23, thrilled to be expecting twins, discovered an additional rarity—both twins had Down syndrome. Despite the initial shock, she celebrated their uniqueness, stating, “It’s very rare what they have, but they’ve been my little gems.”

A Challenging Journey: Savannah, from Middleburg, Florida, documented her postpartum journey on TikTok. Advised to consider abortion due to potential challenges, she chose to embrace every moment, expressing, “Every [prenatal] appointment they were alive was a blessing to me.”

Rare Twins with Down Syndrome: Kennadi Rue and Mckenli Ackerman, born prematurely at 29 weeks as mono di twins (one placenta, separate sacs), faced challenges in the NICU. Savannah acknowledged the rarity, stating, “Mo di twins as it is, it’s like very rare. And then you throw Down syndrome on top of it, it’s like one in 2 million.”

Defying Judgments with Love: Facing criticism on social media, Savannah responded gracefully on Facebook, affirming her unconditional love, “God knew what he was doing by giving these babies to the right parents who would love them regardless.” Savannah continues sharing her twins’ milestones, promoting understanding and acceptance of their extraordinary journey.
