How to get rid of rats and cockroaches with rice: An effective and natural home remedy

Many people think pest control needs expensive products, but sometimes the answer is already at home. “Plain rice” can help deal with rats and cockroaches when mixed with simple household ingredients. It works as bait because pests are drawn to it, making it an easy way to create “safe, affordable pest remedies” without relying on strong chemicals.

For cockroaches, cooked rice works best. Mix it with sugar and boric acid, then shape it into small balls. The sugar attracts them, the rice makes it appealing, and the boric acid destroys their system. Place the bait in hidden spaces like under sinks, behind appliances, or inside cabinet corners. Refresh it every few days for better results.

For rats, one option is mixing uncooked rice with plaster of Paris and adding a little sugar or cocoa powder. After eating it and drinking water, the plaster hardens inside them. Another gentler method combines rice, sugar, and baking soda. Once eaten, it creates gas that rats cannot release, eventually killing them. Both methods should be used carefully and consistently.

Safety matters when using these remedies. Always “Keep baits out of reach, label treated areas, and avoid food-prep zones.” Check bait spots often and remove dead pests quickly to keep your home clean and sanitary.

You can also strengthen results with natural repellents. “Bay leaves, mint oil, cucumber peels, and garlic paste repel pests naturally” and help keep them away. With these simple tricks, rice-based pest control becomes an eco-friendly way to “reclaim your home without toxic chemicals.”
