The children had been unwell, missing school the previous week and on the fateful Monday. The grieving mother, who discovered them, is now hospitalized. Doctors are determining the cause of death. NYPD Assistant Chief Benjamin Gurley expressed the emotional difficulty faced by the family, emphasizing the careful approach to treating it as a possible crime until further investigation unfolds. The father is cooperating with the police in understanding the tragic circumstances.
