Unfortunately, and with a heavy heart we have sad news about this iconic actress

Valerie Perrine, a former Las Vegas showgirl turned acclaimed actress, has died at 82 after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease. Her close friend Stacey Souther shared, “It is with deep sadness that I share the heartbreaking news that Valerie has passed away,” describing her as “courageous, compassionate, and full of life until the very end.”

She began her career on the lively stages of Las Vegas after growing up in a military family that moved frequently. As a dancer in the Lido de Paris show at the Stardust Hotel, she developed the confidence and bold presence that later defined her on-screen persona. Her entry into acting came unexpectedly after a chance meeting led to a screen test and opened the door to Hollywood.

Her breakthrough came in 1974 with Lenny, starring alongside Dustin Hoffman. Playing Honey Harlow, she earned major recognition, including an Academy Award nomination, a BAFTA, and Best Actress at Cannes. The role proved her emotional depth and established her as a serious talent.

Perrine also gained global fame as Eve Teschmacher in Superman and its sequel, where her charm and humor made her a fan favorite. Though often labeled a “sex symbol,” she openly spoke about the mixed impact of that image on her career.

Later in life, she faced Parkinson’s disease with honesty and wit, once saying, “The doctors don’t know what’s going on with me… They can’t figure it out.” When asked her own view, she replied, “Karma.” Her resilience and spirit remained strong despite her struggles.

Her life, marked by bold choices and lasting performances, leaves behind a legacy that continues to shine even after her passing.
