RIP To These Heroes Who Died In This Tragic “Accident”

Early Monday, Baltimore firefighters faced tragedy as a vacant house collapsed during their efforts to extinguish a fire, leaving Lt. Paul Butrim, FF Kelsey Sadler, and FF Kenny Lacayo dead, while FF John McMaster fights for survival in critical condition. Dr. Thomas Scalea expressed uncertainty about McMaster’s outcome. Mayor Brandon Scott acknowledged the loss, stating, “Baltimore owes them the deepest gratitude.” In a poignant tribute, the Baltimore City Fire Department shared a photo of the fallen heroes, emphasizing ongoing prayers for McMaster’s recovery.

The incident occurred at a property previously linked to a 2015 fire injuring three firefighters. Despite a 2022 inspection deeming the building secure, the cause of the collapse remains unknown, prompting an investigation. This devastating event has plunged the Baltimore community into mourning. Condolences and memories for the departed heroes are welcomed.
