Found at Stockman’s Eggs in North Queensland, the egg, weighing 176 grams, three times the average size, baffled farmer Scott Stockman. He joked, “she would have had a pain in the bum,” referring to the chicken’s likely challenge in laying such an unusual egg. Upon cracking it open, a perfectly formed smaller egg emerged. Veterinary expert Raf Freire, baffled by the phenomenon, explained that while stressed hens may temporarily retain eggs, the free-range setting deepened the mystery. He assured the public of the egg’s safety, stating, “Normally the double yolks or the triple yolks are perfectly fine.” With around 50,000 daily eggs, Stockman preserved this oddity as an artifact rather than a culinary treat.
