Losing a spouse is really tough, especially when it happens at a relatively young age.
John Travolta and his family have had a difficult time in the past few years. In 2020, his wife and the mother of their children, Kelly Preston, passed away from breast cancer.
Since then, John has been doing his best to be a great father to their kids.
Over the years, Travolta became one of the best actors of the century. Along his journey, he found the love of his life, and together, they built a wonderful family.
In 1992, after getting engaged at the Palace Hotel restaurant in Gstaad, Switzerland, the year before, John Travolta and Kelly Preston got married. Their secret ceremony took place on September 5, 1991, at the Hotel de Crillon in Paris.
Kelly, born on October 13, 1962, in Honolulu, Hawaii, also worked in the film industry, just like John. She studied acting at the University of Southern California and started her acting career in 1985. Kelly appeared in major movies such as Mischief, Twins, Jerry Maguire, and For Love of the Game.
On the morning of July 12, 2020, Kelly Preston, adored wife, and mother, passed away following a two-year battle with breast cancer,” a family representative told People at the time.
“She was a bright, beautiful, and loving soul who cared deeply about others and who brought life to everything she touched. Her family asks for your understanding of their need for privacy at this time.”
Kelly Preston kept her breast cancer diagnosis a secret. Her co-star in her final film, Off the Rails, Sally Phillips, revealed on the British talk show Loose Women that they didn’t know about it while filming. Sally explained that people often keep health issues private because of concerns about movie insurance and future work opportunities.
She mentioned, “That’s what people do—they go through it on their own because of worries about insurance for the film, and working again afterward.” Sally also pointed out other recent examples, like Chadwick Boseman and Helen McCrory, who also didn’t share their health challenges publicly.
