One morning, shortly after waking up, I noticed several tiny round balls scattered across my bed sheet. Initially, I was confused, unsure of what I was seeing. But as I leaned in for a closer inspection, an overwhelming sense of dread quickly set in.
The small objects resembled insect eggs — perfectly round, pale, and clustered in an orderly fashion. The sight made my stomach churn, especially because they were on the very bed where I had just been sleeping, feeling completely unaware of their presence.
I panicked and started searching online, asking friends for advice, and comparing images. I hoped to identify what kind of pest could have left such strange things behind. I needed answers, and fast.
To my surprise, the answer came almost immediately: the eggs belonged to stink bugs. These insects, notorious for their foul odor when disturbed, often find their way indoors during colder months. While I had seen them crawling along windows and walls, the discovery that they could lay eggs in undisturbed places like bedding made the situation even more unsettling.
Finding those eggs on my sheets made me feel deeply uncomfortable and violated. I immediately stripped the bed, cleaned thoroughly, and searched nearby areas for any additional signs of an infestation. Although stink bugs aren’t harmful to humans, the thought of having them inside was frustrating. Their eggs hatch quickly, and before long, more bugs could appear. This experience served as a sharp reminder that no home is entirely safe from unwanted visitors.
