Donald Trump has suggested making major changes to the Freedom 250 celebration after several performers reportedly withdrew from the event marking America’s 250th anniversary.
The planned concert series has faced setbacks as multiple artists stepped away, with some reports indicating they were not fully aware of the event’s political connections. While a few performers, including Vanilla Ice and Flo Rida, are still associated with the program, questions remain about the final lineup.
Among those reported to have withdrawn are Martina McBride, Bret Michaels, The Commodores, and Young MC. Concerns were reportedly raised about the event’s political tone, leading to uncertainty around the entertainment schedule.
Reacting to the withdrawals, Trump criticized the artists in a post on Truth Social and proposed replacing the concerts with a large political gathering. He argued that instead of “overpriced singers,” a rally would be a more fitting way to celebrate the occasion. Trump also claimed some performers were unpopular and overly critical, suggesting their absence would not hurt the event.
He floated the idea of canceling the concert series entirely and replacing it with an “America is Back” rally modeled after his MAGA events. According to Trump, such a gathering would better reflect the spirit of the anniversary and attract greater public interest.
Trump further linked the controversy to his ongoing disagreements involving the Kennedy Center and said he could personally serve as the event’s main attraction. He described himself as a major draw and suggested that a political rally could ultimately become the centerpiece of the Freedom 250 celebration if the concert plans continue to face disruptions.
