Venus dimples, also known as “dimples of Venus,” are small indentations on the lower back, just above the buttocks. They are caused by a ligament connecting the skin to the posterior superior iliac spine, forming a slight depression.
These dimples are often linked to beauty and attractiveness. “They are named after Venus, the Roman goddess of love,” symbolizing charm and appeal.
Not everyone has them. Genetics play a big role, but they can also appear in people with low body fat and strong muscles.
In men, these indentations are called “Apollo holes.” They’re often seen as a sign of “good circulation, muscle definition, and overall health.”
Whether natural or achieved through fitness, Venus dimples are considered a desirable physical trait by many.
