Mom of rare twins with Down syndrome shuts down critics with photo showing how beautiful they are

Middleburg twins Kennadi Rue and Mckenli Ackerman, born prematurely and diagnosed with Down syndrome, have gained national attention and a viral following on TikTok. Their mother, Savannah Combs, refers to them as her “little gems.” The rare mono-di twins, sharing a placenta but having separate sacs, are statistically one in 2 million. Born six weeks early, they spent four weeks in the NICU but are now thriving at five months old. Despite their unique circumstances, Combs emphasizes their normalcy, stating,

“They have feelings. They have a beating heart. They know how to talk.” Combs encourages treating children with Down syndrome equally, highlighting their accomplishments, including a TikTok following of over 24,000 and a video with 1.5 million views. The twins receive weekly therapy and continue to achieve developmental milestones, proving that with determination, every child can thrive.
