Dad Shares Innocent Photo Of His Son At Beach, Authorities Act Fast After Spotting Small Detail

A family narrowly avoided a disaster after posing for photos near a WWII mine, mistaken for a buoy on a Carmarthenshire beach. The 70-year-old bomb was discovered by Kelly Gravell and her children, later detonated by the bomb squad. Gareth, the father, tweeted humorously about the incident, saying, “So the buoy my kids were jumping on all weekend turns out to be a WWII bomb. Oops.”

The family, focused on barnacles, unwittingly encountered the historic bomb during their beach outing, dismissing it as harmless. Reflecting on the close call, Ms. Gravell said, “We were close to disaster – it’s shocking.” The incident serves as a reminder of hidden dangers in coastal areas, emphasizing the need for caution and vigilance when exploring unfamiliar objects on the beach.
