Singer Makes It Clear She Is “Not Making Music For White People”

Lizzo, the 34-year-old musician, dismissed claims that she creates music for a “white audience.” She emphasized her focus on expressing the black experience through a blend of hip hop, gospel, and R&B in chart-toppers like “Good as Hell” and “About Damn Time.” Lizzo, born Melissa Jefferson, addresses concerns about her songs resonating more with white audiences, stating it’s a critical conversation for black artists. “I am not making music for white people. I am a black woman. I am making music from my black experience,” she asserts. Lizzo acknowledges her role in providing powerful, self-love anthems for young Black individuals who face underappreciation. Responding to critics, she affirms her commitment to creating music from a black perspective.

Regarding weight-related comments, Kanye West criticized societal perceptions of Lizzo’s weight on Fox News. He argued against promoting unhealthy standards, calling it a “genocide of the black race,” suggesting a broader conspiracy.
