The Symbolism of the Black Butterfly
The black butterfly is often seen as an omen of “bad luck or even d-eath.” In Mexico and Central America, it is believed to “herald the passing of a loved one.” Similarly, in China, the Philippines, and Japan, it is thought to “guide souls to the afterlife.”
However, in other cultures, black butterflies symbolize “rebirth, transformation, and change.” Celtic folklore views them as a sign of “good fortune” and “welcome change.” In Christianity, they can represent “resurrection.”
While feared in some regions, black butterflies also carry messages of renewal and hope.
