Persistent itching can sometimes signal serious health issues, including cancer. Experts urge people to pay attention to unusual itching patterns and seek medical advice when symptoms don’t improve or are accompanied by other signs.
“Itchy eyes” may suggest liver issues, including liver cancer, not just allergies. Similarly, “persistent itching in the nose” could indicate nasal cancer, especially when no infection is present. Neck itching might signal lymph node cancer if no external cause is found.
Abdominal itching could be linked to high blood sugar and may be an early sign of diabetes. Genital itching is often due to infection, but “severe or long-lasting itching” might point to gynecological cancers that need urgent evaluation.
Unexplained itching on the palms and soles—especially if paired with jaundice or fatigue—can be a symptom of liver or pancreatic cancer. Also, “persistent chest itching,” especially if the skin is red or dimpled, may be linked to breast cancer.
Finally, “itchy moles that change in size, color, or bleed” could be early signs of skin cancer. Any persistent or unexplained itching should be checked by a doctor to rule out underlying illnesses.
