Two young girls from Dallas, 9-year-old Lila Bonner and 8-year-old Eloise Peck, tragically died during the flash floods that hit Central Texas on the night of July 4, 2025. They were best friends and cabinmates at Camp Mystic in Kerr County.
The girls were among several children missing after floodwaters swept through the summer camp. Their deaths were confirmed by their families over the weekend. Lila’s was confirmed on July 5, while Eloise’s family posted a sign outside their home the next day saying she “lost her life in the tragic flooding” and requested privacy.
A third Dallas girl, Hadley Hanna, remained missing as of July 6.
Eloise’s mother described her daughter as someone who was “literally friends with everyone” and said, “She loved spaghetti, but not more than she loved dogs and animals.” She added, “She had a family who loved her fiercely for the 8 years we were blessed to have her.”
