Matthew Perry, the beloved actor known for his role as Chandler Bing on Friends, was laid to rest at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Los Angeles, close to where the iconic show was filmed. The funeral took place with family and former cast members, including Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, and David Schwimmer in attendance.
Perry’s tragic passing occurred when he was found dead in his Los Angeles home at the age of 54. He left behind his parents, John Bennett Perry and Suzanne Morrison.
In response to his death, his Friends co-stars released a joint statement, expressing their deep sorrow and the strong bond they shared: “We are all so utterly devastated by the loss of Matthew. We were more than just cast mates. We are a family.”
Matthew Perry had been candid about his battle with addiction, expressing a desire to be remembered for more than his acting. He stated, “when I die, I don’t want Friends to be the first thing that’s mentioned.” To honor this, the Matthew Perry Foundation was established to continue his mission of helping those struggling with substance abuse.
The foundation will “honor his legacy and be guided by his own words and experiences and driven by his passion for making a difference in as many lives as possible.”
